Den 1 - Tiger Cubs Den Leader: Mr. Murray
The Tiger den has been having a lot of fun lately working on Pinewood Derby cars and Tiger Cub badge requirements. Everyone in our den has earned their Bobcat badge, and is working hard for their Tiger Badge. We are all looking forward to the next pack meeting where our young Tigers will be center stage with color guard duties, and watching a demonstration of remote control aircraft. Our next outing will be at
Double Decker lanes where the boys will learn the suble art of bowling. All Scouts are welcome to join us! (click here for more information) We would also like to extend a warm welcome to our newest Tiger Alec!

Den 3 - Bear Cubs Den Leader: Mr. Banks, Assistant Leader: Mr. Dinno
Den 3 is a Den of Bear Cub Scouts from Pack 118. Our Den has seven boys, Bryan, Jarod, Cole, Spencer,
Harry, Bailey and Chandler. We have a good time at our Den meetings learning about our County and society.
We> are also very respectful of the American Flag. We go on outings with our leaders and parents. We have
been to places like museums, national parks and even to the compost and recycling areas at out local dump. That was a blast!! We have fun hiking and learning about nature. Something we have done recently is to learn to tie knots. All the boys in our Den can tie a square knot, Bow line and Clove hitch. Our parents have fun learning them too. Our last outing was to Point Reyes National Seashore, We learned about the native Americans that lived there a long time ago. We also walked the earth quake trail and saw where the earth move fifteen feet during the 1906 San Francisco earth quake! We also saw a dead skunk, YUCK.

Den 4 -
In February, Den 4's first year Webelos volunteered at Elisha's Pantry, a food distribution center for needy families in the Bennett and Rincon Valley areas of Santa Rosa. Along with their parents and a brother who is a Boy Scout, they packed food for the families, helped people select produce and frozen goods to take home, helped people carry food to their cars, and cleaned up the area when the pantry closed for the day. It was a positive and enjoyable experience for us all, and we appreciated the opportunity to help in the community.
We're also continuing to work on the Webelos Engineering badge, and are making marshmallow catapults and different kinds of bridges in our den meetings. We plan to go bike riding and creek exploring in March! |
Den 8 -
Den 8 is now the Phoenix patrol - second year Webelos. We choose our new name at the beginning of the summer. Since then we have enjoyed many activities together.
We’ve all been camping – one at Summer Resident camp at Camp Masonite Navarro, several us went to Camp Noyo for Webelos Weekend. It was fun riding on the Skunk train into the redwoods to camp. We had a Webelos campout with the Cobra patrol at Sugar Loaf Ridge State Park. We hiked together, identified local plants and trees, and scrambled up the steep hill at our camp site. In October we went to Webelos Woods at Camp Masonite Navarro and learnt lots of scout skills from local Boy Scout troops – we think the knives and axes station and BB guns were the best.
During the summer we completed some of the ‘outdoor’ Webelos badges like Aquanaut, Sportsman, Athlete and Outdoorsman. Presenting the September Pack meeting was a fun and we could complete some Showman badge requirements. We all enjoyed presenting skits at Pack 118 Fall campout. In our Patrol meetings we’ve been working hard on more Webelos badges – Traveler, Scholar, and Family Member. We worked together to write this Patrol newsletter for a Communicator badge requirement.
Just recently we’ve been visiting Boy Scout troops ready for Bridging. We checked out Troop 55, where a camp cooking session was the biggest attraction. This week we visited Troop 121 – they were working on the Photography merit badge. We plan to visit Troop 32 later this month.
